Allow me to begin by saying that I believe that there is total and complete recovery from addiction. I do not believe the saying that once an addict always an addict. I’ve been addiction free for 28 years. Unfortunately, my Addiction Recovery did not come from experiencing a program. My family was unaware of the Self-Conscious or Self-Obsessed available to us during my addiction. For me it finally came down to a choice. I had to chose between my marriage or my addiction. Fortunately, I was in a place where I made the right choice and choose my marriage. It took along time and a lot of work to overcome my addiction.
Locating the root cause for my addiction was key (and took the longest) but, after the root issue was discovered I began my Addiction Recovery. Like a lot of addicts I started out smoking pot and progressed after that until I used to be doing my drug associated with preference daily at the cost of everything and everybody around me. I lost precious time with my oldest daughter and many years of a meaningful relationship with our family. During your addiction you don’t have friends, you may have your partying buddies so when an emergency pops up in your lifetime they may be no where that can be found. Real friends walk along with you through it all. My addiction included alcohol along with drugs and i also drank almost everyday. As soon as I made the selection to stop the addiction cycle in my life, it became a stride at a time plus it was hard.
Once I began coming from my addictive lifestyle what I present in its wake was plenty of fear and insecurities within myself, broken relationships without any real idea the things i would do with the rest of my well being. I truly began one step at any given time and something day at the same time. During my recovery my brother was killed in a motorcycle accident and thru that grieving process is when I decided to enable God into help me to. It took several years but healing came, direction for my well being came and my marriage flourished. I completed High School, graduated from College and possess started my very own business, which now features a business that allows me to work at home through a blogging platform.
Addiction Recovery Is Possible. After the real cause of any addiction is identified and worked through then your major reason for your addiction is no longer a factor. For many who remain addicts throughout their lives it is because they may have not identified their real cause, are not prepared to get through their issues and enable healing to take place. Many want to remain a victim with their circumstance, not realizing what the future would hold for them if they would let go of their victim mentality. Creating a relationship with God was key for my recovery, it really is through that relationship that true healing took place.
My desire for drugs and alcohol is entirely gone. Through building a relationship with God my self worth was restored, relationships were restored and i also discovered feelings of purpose for my life. Through my recovery I gained the skill set needed to become better wife, mother, friend and employee ( which now has become a company owner). My way to recovery might have taken a lot different route if we had known concerning the programs available to us. Programs for addiction recovery are valuable tools, not just in the addicts but to there families as well.
Addiction Recovery and Programs. Although I ultimately gained freedom from my addictions a software program for addiction recovery would have been a great benefit to me. Programs offer support systems, counseling, aide in identifying your triggers. Programs offer tools that you can use throughout your daily life for several situations which you will face. Programs also provide you the opportunity to get free from your familiar surroundings which aides in your process of healing. After a long period of addiction recovery I began vxktfb for Teen Challenge which is a faith-based addiction recovery program:.
First as being a Development Director and then as being a Program Director. While this is an excellent program there were some additional steps which i wished to offer those seeking help, so my hubby and i also opened our personal recovery program and for a long time we welcomed those seeking help into our home. They lived along with us for around per year and we dealt with them step-by-step, it had been just about the most rewarding experience We have had in my life.
We closed this program because we knew the time had come to maneuver in a different direction with the lives, but we have been always contacting those searching for help themselves or a family member trying to find help for one that they love. I am just about to start doing a bit of volunteer work with a program in our area. Working to help addicts overcome their addiction is extremely rewarding work and it is something that I will take part in for the rest of my entire life in one way or another. In the event you or someone inside your family is suffering from addiction, research recovery programs and you will find the right fit for you personally. Allow yourselves to heal, allow yourself addiction recovery and to lead a fulfilling life.
